l Contraceptive Use and Estrogen / Progesterone eptor – Negative Breast Cancer among B & P can American Women

چکیده
Downlo kground: Oral contraceptive formulations have changed over time, making it relevant to assess the of more recent formulations on breast cancer risk. In addition, some studies have found stronger posisociations of oral contraceptive use with estrogen receptor–negative (ER) than with ER-positive (ER) cancer. We carried out the first assessment of the effect of oral contraceptive use on the incidence of cancer classified by receptor status among African American women, a group disproportionately afby ER cancer. thods:We followed 53,848 Black Women's Health Study participants from 1995 to 2007 through biennial questionnaires, in which participants reported information about incident breast cancer, oral contrae use, and breast cancer risk factors. Pathology information was obtained on receptor status for 789 nt cases. Incidence rate ratios (IRR) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were derived from Cox sion models with control for confounding factors. ults: Ever use of oral contraceptives was more strongly associated with ERPR breast cancer (279 IRR, 1.65; 95% CI, 1.19-2.30) than with ERPR cancer (386 cases; IRR, 1.11; 95% CI, 0.86-1.42). The risk PR breast cancer increased with increasing duration of use among recent users. clusions: These results indicate that the oral contraceptive formulations used in recent decades increase cancer risk in African American women, with a greater effect for ER than ER cancer. breast Impact:Mechanisms to explain the adverse influence of oral contraceptive use on ER breast cancer need to be elucidated. Risk factors for triple-negative breast cancer in women under the age of 45 years.
Little is known about the etiologic profile of triple-negative breast cancer (negative for estrogen receptor/progesterone receptor/human epidermal growth factor), a breast cancer subtype associated with high mortality and inadequate therapeutic options. We undertook this study to assess the risk for triple-negative breast cancer among women 45 years of age and younger in relation to demographic...

متن کاملReproductive history and oral contraceptive use in relation to risk of triple-negative breast cancer.
BACKGROUND Triple-negative (ie, estrogen receptor [ER], progesterone receptor, and HER2 negative) breast cancer occurs disproportionately among African American women compared with white women and is associated with a worse prognosis than ER-positive (ER+) breast cancer. Hormonally mediated risk factors may be differentially related to risk of triple-negative and ER+ breast cancers. METHODS U...
متن کاملRelation between Estrogen and Progesterone Receptor Status with p53, Ki67 and Her-2 Markers in Patients with Breast Cancer
Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, containing approximately one third of all illnesses in women. Assessment of molecular markers is valuable in predicting the outcome of disease and decision making for optimal treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between estrogen and progesterone receptors with Her-2, Ki67, P53, and clinicopathologica...
متن کاملUse of four biomarkers to evaluate the risk of breast cancer subtypes in the women's contraceptive and reproductive experiences study.
Epidemiologic studies suggest that some hormone-related risk factors in breast cancer differentially influence risk for disease subtypes classified by the status of the estrogen and progesterone receptors (ER/PR). However, it remains unclear whether human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) or p53 expression status further differentiates these exposure-risk group associations. We evaluate...
